Lovely and welcoming hotel, ideally situated in the centre of Cortina. Great bar and friendly staff. The rooms were very clean and well-stocked.
The ideal combination of comfort and style, without being too expensive.
Only two real drawbacks :
1) The mattresses are quite hard. That’s obviously a personal preference, but it was a bit annoying; and
2) for the last few days, a scientific breakfast conference was hosted in the hotel. This meant that the paying staying guests such as myself were evicted from the main breakfast room (which has beautiful Mountain Views), and put in a small annexe. This wasn’t fair, given that one of the main reasons for staying at the hotel is the beautiful views from the breakfast room, and we weren’t warned about this in advance.
But other than that, the hotel was great - we will return next year
Before gushing on about other highly positive aspects of Hotel de la Poste, I need to grump just a bit about our bathroom. To satisfy those of us who love a shower rather than a bath, the hotel folks retrofitted a Jacuzzi tub with a shower feature; unfortunately, it resulted in creating an exceedingly large puddle on the bathroom floor, making getting out of the tub very exciting. Once aware of the situation, our lovely housekeeper dedicated herself to keeping the floor dry.
Now the positives: the Hotel de la Poste cannot be in a better location for walking around Cortina, people watching, and dining. We loved sitting outside enjoying an Apperol Spritz, nibbling on those fabulous olives, and watching people and their dogs stroll by. Breakfast was generous, varied, and served in a luxurious dining room.
The hotel staff was courteous and helpful. We were warmly greeted each time we entered the hotel. Each person we encountered was professional and efficient.
The room decor was dated, but that is not really a factor with my husband and me. We did disagree over the comfort of the bed. He won because he loves sleeping on the hardest of mattresses.
We look forward to returning to Cortina, and, if we decide to stay in the town, we will call Hotel de la Poste.
The hotel was lovely. The view from my window was gorgeous looking up at the mountains. The keys were very unique and very heavy. The dining room waitstaff could’ve been a little friendlier. The location was wonderful and very convenient as far as getting to all the stores.
One of our all time favorite hotels. Old school and classic.|Wonderful large rooms, great restaurant and large breakfast room in a grand ballroom. Clean and friendly. In the heart of beautiful Cortina. Lorenzo is the chief concierge and is a gem who was most generous with his time and advise. Great place to stay. Hope some day to return
I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The hotel is really beautiful and the room looked great. The front desk staff were all very nice too.
…sadly that was the end of the positive experience: the beds were by far the worst we had in our 18 day trip (they were rock hard). The hotel is incredibly loud at night (a door closing on a different floor can be heard on an adjacent floor with a super loud echo. If it’s a weekend, hopefully your room won’t overlook the venue (ours did and we couldn’t sleep).
The breakfast food quality-wise was okay, but the folks serving the coffee and clearing the tables seemed to have some problems with information prioritizing. More time was spent cleaning up empty tables and setting up than was spent on assisting people in the room (there was no rush or large group of people coming in). It gave a weirdly panicked feeling of putting someone out to ask for some service (even if you’d already been sitting for 15 minutes or so), and contributed to a backlog of people needing service.
Its a shame that such a pretty place is not really worth the time, but I’d recommend visiting it for a quick glass of wine.
The hotel is in a very good location in the centre of town. The room itself was lovely and clean with lots of rustic charm, and my room had a stunning view of the mountains (at the rear of the hotel so noise from the street was not an issue). Lorenzo the concierge was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. The room could have improved with a kettle to make tea/coffee and I found the shower a bit difficult to use but overall it was a great stay.
Stayed for 2 nights as part of a Tour Group. Good location but very dated and dark interior. The bed was rock hard and the pillows lumpy and awful. Large bathroom which had been partially updated. People who had rooms above the bar were …
This was our provided lodging with an Insights tour of northern Italy. We could not have been happier about this choice as our hotel for 2 nights. Great rooms, friendly fun staff, great location. Staying here is like taking a trip into …
